Chats That Matter for working with young people
Discovering Strengths, Developing Character, Helping Young People Be Their Best Selves And Get Things On The Up!
We run Chats That Matter® programmes in colleges and schools and youth organisations because we know that staff are struggling to find ways to have conversations with young people about how to get things on the up! Our Chats That Matter® programme includes a Discovery Day to develop staff’s coaching skills and a Coaching Toolkit of resources and activities to download. Our approach fits perfectly with an Early Help approach to create great conversations for great outcomes and links to developing a culture of safeguarding, and personal development that OfSTED look for.
We know schools and youth organisations are doing their utmost to help young people, and staff want the confidence to have conversations about what gets in the way of young people learning and being happy at school. Research tells us children today often lack hope for the future and are unsure of their place in the world. (The GM Mental Health Rapid Pilot 2018).
We believe that everybody wants to be their best selves and we cantrain your staff to have coaching conversations using our tried and tested concepts- Our Be Your Best Self® concepts provide fun ways to talk about the tough stuff. We focus on discovering strengths, resourcefulness, emotional wellbeing, resilience, purpose, passion and potential to help people learn, grow and achieve. We take a strength-based whole person approach using innovative behaviour change resources your staff and children will love to use. When young people feel good about themselves they learn better.
We show how to coach someone to feel; valued, listened to and more positive. Our Chats That Matter® coaching approach helps young people to discover how to; overcome blocks, challenge self-limiting beliefs, take actions and discover their true potential.
Through our national programme we have trained staff in schools, colleges and youth organisations including; GM Youth Network, Lakes College, Greater Sport, Breakthrough UK, Uprising, Wythenshawe Housing, Wigan Council, Bedspace and Mahdlo Youth Zone. Our strengths-based coaching and engagement approach is award winning.
Our On The Up Chats That Matter™ tools and techniques are tried and tested with:
- Care leavers
- Young people with disabilities,
- Young people seeking employment and
- Young people who have experienced adversity and are seeking ways to get things on the up.
Our tools and techniques get people talking and discover their strengths.
We get really great results from our work. People often tell us our sessions our fun, positive, inspiring, enlightening, thought-provoking and different. 100% of course participants said they would recommend this course to others.*
Thought provoking and I am sure it will impact upon our workplace!
I learnt I had strengths I didn’t realise, and new strategies to bring into the classroom, staff room and home.
Coach the children more. This approach would have been ideal for a situation this week with two y6 children.
